Is the Festival free to enter?

Yes there is no entrance fee.

Is there a multi event weekend ticket?

No you will need to pre book tickets for all of the amazing events you would like to see.

Can we book tickets on the day?

Absolutely! But for the events you know you absolutely don't want to miss we advise pre booking to avoid missing out on an event that might be sold out on the day.

Is there car parking?

Yes, car parking costs £10 for the day and you can come and go as you please.

My child has won tickets to BHCLF and the Yorkshire Young Writer Awards, what do we need to do?

If your child has been lucky enough to have won tickets to BHCLF and have their story selected for the Yorkshire Young Writer book, you will have received 2 free tickets to a nominated show stated on the paper tickets your child will have received from school. If you would like to purchase additional tickets for that event please visit the WHAT'S ON page. 
We can't wait to celebrate with you at the Yorkshire Young Writer Awards Ceremony during the festival. This is a free to attend event and will take place in the 'Silver Cross' marquee at the end of each day. An overall Yorkshire Young Writer of the Year will be announced. For Years 3/4 winners this ceremony will be at 5.30pm on Saturday 29 Sept. For Years 5/6 winners this ceremony will be at 4.50pm on Sunday 30 Sept. Winners are allowed to bring a maximum of 6 guests with them to the Award Ceremony.

I am a Billy Bonkers chocolate bar winner, how do I claim my free tickets?

Well lucky you! CONGRATULATIONS on your win! To claim your free tickets simply visit the WHAT'S ON page and select the events you would like to see. At the online checkout enter your winning Billy Bonkers bar code found inside your chocolate bar wrapper and this will entitle you to a pair of free tickets at an event of your choice.

Is there anything to do in between events?

Yes, we have lots of activities and entertainment to get involved with if you have a bit of time before the next event you want to see. You can follow the Scarecrow Trail featuring over 50 book character scarecrows! There is face painting, a messy tent, bollywood dancing, film screenings, the brilliant Brass Nova band, Blackpool donkeys, animal petting and you can even have your caricature cartoon drawn! Plus brilliant food and ice cream, or maybe you will choose to bring a picnic and explore the wonderful Broughton Hall grounds.
