About Cat:

Cat’s writing career began in 2005, with the Puffin publication of Barkbelly. This was shortlisted for the highly prestigious Branford Boase Award for debut novels. She now has eight children's books and has been translated into eleven languages. Cat specialises in fantasy and all of her Puffin novels have been shortlisted for awards.

Cat has an acting background and frequently works for the British Council, promoting the art of storytelling in places like Kazakhstan and Kenya.

Her school visits are fizzy, memorable affairs. She has the ability to make children laugh like donkeys one minute then fall totally silent the next. As The Times said, Cat is ‘a magical performer.’ Through workshops and performance, she loves to explore the interface between the written and the spoken word. In a thirty year career, Cat has worked with thousands of children in hundreds of schools.
