Sunday 30 September 4.50–5.30pm
Anna will become her alter ego to introduce her audience to the spooky world of Aunt Grizelda. Aunt Grizelda's Treasury of Grim and Grisly Rhymes will make you grin, grimace and gain gruesome lessons about the perils of modern life.
Anna Best is a Yorkshire based performance artist well loved for her children’s book Aunt Grizelda’s Treasury of Grim and Grisly Rhymes, which takes inspiration from Anna’s time working as a lecturer at Huddersfield Technical College and the wit and humour of the students she taught there.
Anna grew up living next door to a library and became addicted to stories at a young age and quickly started telling her own.
Later, she discovered the darkly funny poems of Hilaire Belloc, Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, Marriott Edgar, and Roald Dahl, which gave her a love of creepy tales told in rhyme.
Anna’s book Aunt Grizelda’s Treasury of Grim and Grisly Rhymes is a fun collection of creepy poetry beautifully illustrated by Natallia Pavaliayeva.
Anna’s book Aunt Grizelda's Treasury of Grim and Grisly Rhymes is on the 2018 Summer Reading Challenge list
